So I read a blurb about something about artists coming to town in 2014 I don’t remember why maybe a contest, maybe some anniversary, anyway they painted up the town! π π π
this is at the center of town….while we were there between Christmas and after the new year, there was entertainment, dancers here every evening….. not a mural but awesome art!!!! and this cat is big probably was close to 5′ tall. this cutie was on our way to the grocery stores so got to see it lots….. whoops posted a better view of this one and this is from the golf cart!!! Cortez wouldn’t get out after we came home from our long day of going from one end of the isla to the other…….Amy sat in there with him and I said oh lets go around the block or two……so Loni and him sat in back, I had a arm or hand close by . Oh yea this is across from ‘Big Fish’ the restaurant we ate at twice,,,,,,,here’s the full wall……
Some murals are on homes, some on business…… yummmmm a good breakfast here we had two mornings!!!!
As you see this is on the beach……..one of the sides above…….left over pier?? who knows…. .I should have worn my simple fit bit I couldn’t even guess how many steps a day we did ahhahahaahhaah it was so worth it………….thank you Amy for suggesting this place and sharing this time with your family……
So what a fun time. My first into the depth interior of Mexico, we took a two hour fast ride north and east of Cancun, then a 25 minute ferry ride to the Isla Holbox, (Holebosh) hahah..
Walk, walk, walk, don’t go there if you’re not ready to walk!!! Oh there are tons of golf carts, and the residents ride small motorcycles. It’s a busy busy place, lots of places to stay, eat, and buy produce. Each grocery store was different in what they sold, none sold meat, well a small amount of lunch meat but a store by itself was the ‘meat’ store. Anyway here are some pictures so I will stop writing, hahahahahaha
well this new improved site cuts up my photos…….guess I’ll post individual ones next…….yes dogs in the grocery stores, dogs in restaurants ahahahah and tons of dogs in the streets, just about all of them had collars, so they belonged to someone, they are just like the people there too, laid back and easy going……not a care in the world, I did worry about water for them tho, but I only saw one very skinny one running on the beach, our first full day there,,,,all others looked fed……..they grandkids loved, loved the water and beach……our first four days there were beautiful,
yep I like single posts of pics now……so more to come……this was at a french pastry breakfast/lunch place yummmmmmm delicious…….
the streets were strung with these Ojo’s, (Eye of God) it was right after Christmas the 29th when we got there. Being there after Christmas and for the New Year was fun in a new place to see how they celebrate and decorate! Cortez got done with his breakfast and walk around and was watching the world go by outside…..This dog had made his rounds inside the restaurant before Cortez decided to make his rounds!!!! hahahaWe were on a walk about on the beach heading to get a tad closer to kite surfers and got this snapshot of Loni……..posts of lots of murals will be next up……. This is on a sandbar, a walk through the water, and not busy as you can see……..heaven! While Paxton and Loni were having fun in a street/town they build in the sand two gals were digging and when they walked away we went over to see what their creation was,,,,,,,lots of work!! Lots of birds, pelicans, and these guys were some kind of gull I’m sure. Like papa like Cortez, hahahahahahah had to take this picture,,,,he was two the 4th of December and he’ll show you ‘two’ too!!! π π π Loni and Paxton riding in the back of a golf cart,,,,,they loved being big kids by themselves in back!!!! we rented one, one day and went from one end of the Isla to the other, (well as far as we could). Loni took my phone the last evening we were in Holbox, and took pictures, this mural was across the street from ‘Big Fish’ the eatery we were at, and delicious food, and great music,,,,,I even asked our waiter what they had playing, its a 7 hour YouTube site,,,,,,,,,
Amy saw this place quite a few years ago online and dreamed of coming here. Last Christmas we said ‘let’s go’ and before you know it, it was upon us quicker than a wink!!
Midnight flights are a great deal but we are going to do our best and not book one again! Sunday was a long day, after landing in Cancun we had a two hour drive, then checkin wasn’t for another 4 hours in our Air B&B. Anyway we were almost back in normal mode on Monday. Shopping is an expierence no two stores carry the same items. So we are getting our steps in plenty each day! We walk everywhere except today Jan. 1st we rented a golf cart and went from one end to the other end and we found heaven as far as a beach goes!!!
This town isn’t as small as I thought it’s about the size of Delta I’m guessing. I have no idea why I thought the size of a Hotchkiss maybe I was hoping, haha. Saw q
It’s a fun and festive place. Maybe because of the Christmas season and New Years but the murals around town are lovely.
So pictures aren’t loading here in Mexico you’ll have to wait til I get home.
