So I read a blurb about something about artists coming to town in 2014 I don’t remember why maybe a contest, maybe some anniversary, anyway they painted up the town! π π π

So what a fun time. My first into the depth interior of Mexico, we took a two hour fast ride north and east of Cancun, then a 25 minute ferry ride to the Isla Holbox, (Holebosh) hahah..
Walk, walk, walk, don’t go there if you’re not ready to walk!!! Oh there are tons of golf carts, and the residents ride small motorcycles. It’s a busy busy place, lots of places to stay, eat, and buy produce. Each grocery store was different in what they sold, none sold meat, well a small amount of lunch meat but a store by itself was the ‘meat’ store. Anyway here are some pictures so I will stop writing, hahahahahaha

well this new improved site cuts up my photos…….guess I’ll post individual ones next…….yes dogs in the grocery stores, dogs in restaurants ahahahah and tons of dogs in the streets, just about all of them had collars, so they belonged to someone, they are just like the people there too, laid back and easy going……not a care in the world, I did worry about water for them tho, but I only saw one very skinny one running on the beach, our first full day there,,,,all others looked fed……..they grandkids loved, loved the water and beach……our first four days there were beautiful,

yep I like single posts of pics now……so more to come……this was at a french pastry breakfast/lunch place yummmmmmm delicious…….

Amy saw this place quite a few years ago online and dreamed of coming here. Last Christmas we said ‘let’s go’ and before you know it, it was upon us quicker than a wink!!
Midnight flights are a great deal but we are going to do our best and not book one again! Sunday was a long day, after landing in Cancun we had a two hour drive, then checkin wasn’t for another 4 hours in our Air B&B. Anyway we were almost back in normal mode on Monday. Shopping is an expierence no two stores carry the same items. So we are getting our steps in plenty each day! We walk everywhere except today Jan. 1st we rented a golf cart and went from one end to the other end and we found heaven as far as a beach goes!!!
This town isn’t as small as I thought it’s about the size of Delta I’m guessing. I have no idea why I thought the size of a Hotchkiss maybe I was hoping, haha. Saw q
It’s a fun and festive place. Maybe because of the Christmas season and New Years but the murals around town are lovely.
So pictures aren’t loading here in Mexico you’ll have to wait til I get home.
Thank you for following blog maybe I’ll post more during everyday life in the future!

Oh my I read my last post, and was embarrassed at the typos, and all,,,,,was thinking too fast and also not paying attention to auto correct (as usual for me)……ahahahhahah well am home and hopefully will be a slower pace to type updates!!!
After leaving Stewart BC/Hyder AK, they are side by side basically along the border on the west, we saw more beautiful scenery, and got slowly broken in to civilization more……Yes we were in towns the whole 7 weeks but not driving through many towns along the way. More traffic, more people, etc……
I didn’t say much really about being a grandma in last post,,,,,while at the playground Pax asked me to join him in the tire, why not??? π π π I did bump my head ducking down, but it was worth the smile he gave me when I got in there with him!
He was a great trooper traveling in the truck all those long hours,,,,,,total we were on the road 11 days…..we did stay two nights in Fairbanks and then in Stewart, and he asked if were were staying another night at both our boondock camp sights, but had to break the news that we weren’t. Found a beautiful campground south of Prince George at a Provincial Park, as they call them, that had lots of great amenities, electric hook up for our freezer, swim beach, which Pax waded out in and I finally joined him after he had asked me (again), rows and rows of picnic tables along the swim beach in the trees, a huge and I mean huge green space with a fun playground for kids and a changing cabana, bathrooms were a bit of a walk away, but nothings perfect!!!! π π
The water was almost warm, beautiful sunset, and no bugs, which brings me to-we really weren’t bothered by mosquitos much the whole trip, not even in BC…..and two years ago they were atrocious…….Next day drove through numerous small towns with lots of character, drove by a huge and I mean huge copper mine with a huge pond/lake for sentiment (I guess) pics in next blog cause they are in phone and can’t get them downloaded right yet……..
Anyway this has happened twice now, only coming into the U.S. at this border stop, Osoyoos, yes it’s spelled right, π π π last time and this time they just had to look in truck and this time had to look in trailer,,,,,,,,,probably had to meet a quota huh??? blahhhhh
Getting late by now well after 4pm. after finally crossing the border and we are wanting a camp spot…….thought we’d even pull into a private campground but the towns in this part of WA are small……kept driving south then east and settled on Republic after I looked up on an app (All Stays) a spot at their fairgrounds……and what a beautiful facility it was……..it remained us our how ours used to look, wooden structures, wood barn like our exhibit hall use to be…….a race track, they still have and use theirs!!! Wooden bleachers………all on 44 acres.
Traveled east a bit, then south passed through Spokane, east on 90, oh boy northern Idaho is up down up down up down up down in the mountains and that is no exaggeration!!! lovely county,,,,,,,,Butte MT, KOA most expensive place, right next to interstate, all well, and then south into Yellowstone for Pax……I did get to see Mammouth Hot Springs, it was lovely,,,,,,,,The Grand Prismatic Spring was too, too, too busy wasn’t worth stopping and even walking in,,,,,,,,finished off at ol’ Faithful and Paxton throughly enjoyed that,,,,,,If we ever stop there again got to remember you can take your dogs around that whole area…..Cliff stayed in the truck with them after letting Henri pee on lots of tires……… π π π
Homeward bound great little campground on BLM close the Pinedale, WY and the cheapest $10 and with electric hookup!!!!!!! YES……….. Finally saw a bull moose, four actually, soon after we left that morning, just barely outside of Pinedale, two and two,,,,,,were crossing the highway about a block apart from each other…..pics in next post……..Great time, great memories, the whole trip was almost too good to be true…….:) π π came home and after turning on swamp cooler water and used it for a bit, it was leaking the next morning through the roof, drip drip drip,,,,,,,,,it’s fixable, and it’s happened before,,,,,could have been worse……..so live goes on!!! Still good though!!! Hosta la vista!!!!!
Karen p.s. I hate auto correct!!!! there were still whoops……
So Monday August 12th we zipped up to see Salmon Glacier. It’s the 5th largest glacier in North America!!! No bears tho, even though the YS forest service built a million dollar walkway to view the bears along this small creek and after talking to numerous people who saw beRs along the road (instead) all we saw was bear poop in the middle of the 20 mile one way first pothole road. π¬π
But the seventy made up fir it totally and seeing numerous marmots, we think, they were colored differently than ours at home. These were light then got darker towards their tail and a juvenile one wasn’t even afraid of Pax or us! 6 ft. Was all the closer I’d let him get.
I did one load of laundry in a hotel 3 washers and 3 dryers and a gal with an accent asked to use one of the machines I was going to use I said yes even tho I was there first and obviously had tons of laundry to do. But when it came time to dry we ended up having a sweet conversation. I’ll just do the load in down the road got what we needed for a couple of days.
Then a family from C. Republic came in they were fun and sweet too.
After a simple dinner Paxton and Henri and I walked through the campground to the town playground that happens to border it. He lived it esp the huge tire. Like I told his mom he doesn’t to run out of energy at all. I was invited to check out the interior of this ‘great’ tire and did so after bumping my head slightly. π
Grandkids really do and can keep you young!!
Cliff told me earlier that he just got depressed when he looked at the map and saw how much we still had to go in Canada!!!! I’m the map reader, co-pilot etc he just drives and last time we did put in two long days 12 hours to get miles under us plus all the fires we had to swing east a bunch from our original plan two years ago. But 10 hours is the longest we’ve done so far and having Pax plus being two years older and we just like to enjoy our evenings it will be two nights in Canada still.

Oh I forgot to mention lovely large trees and this plant and this mornings’ fog out our view as I walk to the bathrooms/showers!!!
See you all soon!!
Karen

We are here in Stewart BC hanging fir a day or two did I mention this lake in pics is 75 miles long!!! And I know last time I said their rivers up here are HUGE!!!!! Oh I’ve slightly forgotten how lush and beautiful it’s here in Stewart!!!
Take care
Karen

Forgot about the tundra swans or trumpeter swans we saw!!! They are beautiful
So when there’s not much service and when there is and your gave your 7 yr grandson with you you don’t have much time for blogging!!
Thought and reflections later ok?!!
We had rain going into Fairbanks on Wednesday and leaving too on Friday. Not composing had a nice day on Thursday tho and hopefully the fires are out everywhere
Paxton I know didn’t know what he was getting into on the drive homeward but he’s been a great trooper/traveler! We’ve played a few games he’s fallen in love with Calvin and Hobbs, I have a 1″ thick book of this comic. It’s been a lifesaver giving him lots of laughs reading it.
Found two great boon-docking camp spots Friday and Saturday nights in the Yukon. First one was by a couple of ponds and the next morning two juvenile beavers were swimming around and aren’t even afraid of us or the dogs!! They were adorable.
Second night we kept driving and finally found a spot next to a nice creek. Pax has a ball building a bridge. He wanted to stay another night but we are homeward bound and has plans to hang in Seward for two nights. It’s beautiful here.
